Hi-line Dress (Salvation Army, Burlington), $3.00, Brandy Melville Hoodie (PacSun, Burlington), $15.00, Necklace from Israel (gifted)

Hi-line is a brand of Madewell and I was so excited to see it at the Salvation Army!  The length is work appropriate and it is so so comfy!  The necklace is a souvenir from Israel – it’s a hamsa and it means “If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill.”

Hen of the Wood is another restaurant that’s part of Hotel Vermont.  It’s as fine dining as it gets in Vermont.  The portions may be small, but each bite is a taste sensation that are what dreams are made of!  Seriously, I will never forget each part of this elaborate meal from the homemade butter to the most perfectly cooked/seasoned steak.  We had the most amazing, fluffy rolls, meatballs, the “hen of the wood” egg on toast, and the pate to start and shared the hake (fish) and hanger steak with roasted onion for our main course.

BCBG Dress (Richmond Thrift Store, Vermont), $10.00, Necklace (I made it!)

Lauren’s Dress (Abercrombie and Fitch)

I was in heaven when I went to the Richmond Thrift Store right after they put out all their Spring clothing.  It occurred to me that their inventory comes from Second Time Around consignments that were out of season.  They hold on to them until it’s time.  Hence, high-value, designer dresses like this!

Occasion:

Pathways Vermont Fundraiser and Juniper

The Pathways Vermont Fundraiser went SO well from the space at New Moon, the auction items, the decorations, the food & drinks, the Photo Booth, games, speeches, etc.  Next year is gonna be even better, you won’t want to miss it!

Juniper is part of the new-ish Hotel Vermont.  It is fancy and all around amazing.  We started with mussels and beef tartare.  I had unbelievable gnocchi and Tom has schnitzel.  For dessert we shared the cheesecake creme brûlée. It was as heavenly as could be!

Sometimes pairing opposite patterns can work…polka dots and stripes, def aint boring!  I found this blazer in Barre of all places and for $3, it was the most expensive item in the store!  Expect to miss, but be prepared to hit!

Butch & Babes!

IMG_2530 IMG_2532

Butch & Babes is a new restaurant in Burlington that totally rocks!  Small but great menu, local ingredients, interesting combos, and friendly waiters.  To start, we had the mac and cheese pancakes with jalepeno maple syrup (OMG), I had the most juicy burger on focaccia with bacon and garlic mayo, and Tom had thai-style chicken with dumplings.  Gooood in ma’ hood.

Club L Trumpet Hem Scuba Dress in Bird Print (asos.com, on sale), $29.00, Anne Klein Shoes (Salvation Army, Burlington), $3.00, Earrings (Siren, Mamaroneck NY), $10.00

“Scuba” fabric is great because it looks expensive, but is often sold fairly cheap.  Found this dress online and it is comfortable yet chic!

Occasion:

Tom’s uncle’s wedding in Denver, Colorado!  It was a small and intimate ceremony and it is always so great to see the union of two soul mates!  The wedding took place in the beautiful Brown Palace Hotel.  We celebrated with delicious food and a half carrot, half chocolate cake.

More food….

Tom and I went to Zengo for dinner and it was mexican/asian fusion.  Such interesting dishes/flavors.  We had flakey empanadas, fried asparagus tacos, albondigas (meatballs), carnitas with rice noodles, and some fried rice.  Definitely a place to try if you’re ever in Denver!

The lake is frozen (for not too much longer!) and it is beautiful!  People come down to the waterfront and walk towards the seemingly nearby mountains and take in the last of VT winter before flip flops and tanks come out from storage!  It is glorious right before the sun sets…and during!  Oh Vermont, you never cease to amaze me 🙂

El Gato in Burlington is a fun, mexican cantina.  Their chips, salsa, and guac are the highlights and the tacos are good and filling, even if they aren’t the most authentic.  The drinks are my favorite!  Jalepeño infused tequila with lime and in other concoctions hits the spot every time :).  Fun environment to go with a group of friends or on a fun date!

Outfit:

Forever21 Dress (gifted), Earrings (Montpelier church), free!

This dress was another gift from my fashionista sister.  I only wear it about once a year on appropriate occasions i.e NYE or Mardi Gras.

Occasion:

The wallpaper behind me (above pics) has my friend’s sister’s face super imposed on Lady Gaga, spread eagle, for her Gaga themed birthday party.  Being that we were also celebrating Mardi Gras, my friend Erin coined it A “Lady Gras Gras” birthday!  There was even a cake with the image plastered on it!

Not to mention we dropped by the Burlington Mardi Gras parade with beads, local floats, and candy!!

ALSO…food!

Tom and I went to Asiana House where I had unbelievable and super filling sushi.  Freshest fish and interesting roll combinations – honestly, BEST sushi I’ve come across…and that includes some swanky NY spots.  It really is exceptional :)!

Navy Talbots Blazer (Possibility Shop, Burlington), 15 cents, ABS pants (Battery Street Jeans, Burlington), $2.50, Route 66 Shoes (Salvation Army, Burlington), $3.00 + DIY paint job, Earrings (Siren, Mamaroneck NY), $12.00, Forever21 layered necklace (forever21.com), $10.00

This is truly a thrifted outfit.  Let me explain the blazer…It was on the 30 cent rack at a church’s thrift store as a set with pants.  I didn’t want the pants so the cashier gave me the jacket for half the amount, hence the whopping 15 cent cost!  Also, ABS pants are normally around 200-300 bucks.  Pretttty wild if you ask me!

Occasion:

Tiny Thai, Winooski VT

unnamed-83

Tiny Thai in Winooski Circle is a favorite amongst many Vermonters.  It is inexpensive, exceptionally tasty, and seemingly authentic (albeit I’ve never been to Thailand…).   It is BYOB and always packed.  It’s perfect for big parties and a loud, but not too loud, ambiance.  I got the flavorful Gratiem, and was tickled with delight!

Second Valentines Day together, First year in our shared apartment!!

       unnamed-69unnamed-72

Occasion:

Leunigs Bistro serves delicious, French food and is one of the fancier restaurants in Burlington.  It reigned as a family favorite throughout my time at UVM and we often would order the tasting menu, which felt like a marathon of delectable delights perpetually parading onto our plates, one after another.  Everything from Foie Gras to Duck Confit.  Yum!  They also have a brunch, and Tom and I luckily got a romantic table by the window to celebrate Valentines together!  We both had a breakfast skillet with eggs and cheese over sausage, beef, and bacon.

Occasion:

American Flatbread is a Burlington classic.  As big as the restaurant is, it is consistently bustling with large parties and people willing to wait for ridiculous amounts of time. The thin crust, wood-fired oven, heavenly pizza pies come dressed with fresh and local toppings.  The result is something special.  The slices are cut small, a ruse that makes one lose track of how many pieces devoured (5…10?).  Not to mention there is the wonderful compliment of delicious hand-crafted beer brewed in house.

After a day of skiing in fresh pow pow, and a perfectly cool, winter wonderland, a full belly of this magical taste sensation was all I needed to top it all off!
